On Monday, March 7, 2011, I will be speaking to the members of the Baltimore chapter of ARMA International. This speech is the first chance to present my manifesto—a true challenge to records management professionals to rise to and meet the desperate need within their corporations and organizations for information governance. A manifesto is a statement of principles—in this case, an expression of the principles by which records professionals can become leaders in information governance.
What does it mean to “govern information”? How will a records professional claim and shape their role and overcome the efforts of others to marginalize their importance? How will a records professional measure their success in doing so? What will be the first steps toward transforming this profession for the remaining decades of the 21st century? The answers are vital—the time has come to lay them out there and stir things up.
If you are in the Baltimore area, I invite you to join me and the ARMA International members. Here is detailed information. If you would like me to present this keynote address to your own association, feel free to complete and submit the Inquiry Form available here.
