Last week in New York, I was privileged to join some fellow “pioneers” in receiving the inaugural Cornerstone Award from the Electronic Signature & Records Association. Amy Boss, Pat Fry, David Whitaker, and Steve Bisbee were invited to share the stage with me (or vice-versa) and discuss what we imagined when we began to create the legal framework for what is now known as electronic commerce. It was great fun to have the dialogue and to look back, however briefly, on what we undertook to accomplish in a world without the Internet in which a fax was a really cool thing to send overseas. The award, a beautiful tall crystal, states it is “in recognition of your foundational vision and influential leadership in the advancement of electronic signatures and records”. Here is the press release. Very cool indeed.
